Since there was no winter skills at Cairngorms on the last bus meet then, with the prospect of cold weather and snow returning, this bus meet should give you the chance to tackle some of the most accessible munros and get some practice at navigation and ice-axe/crampon use.
The bus will go down the A9 to Drumochter and will try to park at Balsporran Cottages. If the car park is full, then we will continue down to Dalnaspidal and park there for the day. Both of these locations are suitable for attempting the 4 westerly Munros (Geal-charn, A’Mharconaich, Beinn Udlamain and Sgairneach Mhor) the 2 easterly Munros A’Bhuidheanach Bheag and Carn na Caim).
If there is any interest, then the bus could divert via Kingussie, Newtonmore and Dalwhinnie to give further walking options.
On the return journey, we will have a refreshment stop at Newtonmore, and hopefully, this time, we will have more time to relax!
