On Sunday the 21st of May, the MMC is holding its annual New Members meet. We’d like to welcome anyone who is interested in hill walking and climbing. This is an excellent opportunity to meet current members and find out more about us.
What’s going on?
We are organising a bus meet with options for a hill walk or climbing at a crag.
Hill Walk
Our planned walk is a traverse of the East of Glenshee hills. This is 15 km long and covers 4 munros. We’ll start from the Glenshee car park. The first hill is Carn an Tuirc, then Cairn of Claise, then Glas Maol and finally Creag Leacach. The bus will drop us off at the start – Glenshee car park, and pick us up at the end – south of the Glenshee Ski Centre. You can see the (reverse) route here:

Climbing at Pass of Ballater
If weather conditions are suitable, the provisional plan is that there’ll be club members climbing at the Pass of Ballater. Everyone is very welcome to join. Gear wise, the club has got a few harnesses and helmets to borrow but no climbing shoes. The crag may be a bit midgie so something to consider along with weather conditions on the day.

Food / Drinks
Please bring enough food and water / drinks to cover lunch, snacks, spare. Refreshments will be provided on the bus home which will be provided by the Club. This will include sandwiches, sausage rolls, beer and soft drinks (both vegetarian and vegan options).
Cost
The cost of the meet is £15 per person if coming by bus. The bus is a good way to meet others and plan your day. There’ll be plenty members of the committee for you to discuss your options with. If you are unable to make the bus, cars / car sharing also welcome (and don’t have to pay to cover bus costs).
