
You are invited to the Moray Mountaineering Club’s Annual General Meeting to be held at 19:30 on Thursday 12 March 2015 at Glen Moray Distillery, Elgin. Please support your club by attending. The agenda will be issued to all members via email by the Club Honorary Secretary in due course.
The annual J. Alister Sword photography competition will take place after the Annual General Meeting on 12 March 2015. The competition rules are:
1. Competition is open to current members of the Moray Mountaineering Club only.
2. Two categories: “Scottish” and “Non-Scottish”.
3. Any subject with a mountaineering theme (landscapes, people, macros, wildlife, etc.).
4. Entries must have been taken between 1st January 2014 and 12th March 2015.
5. Submit up to a maximum of two photographs per category.
6. Entries must be made as hard-copy on the night (please write your name and photo details on the reverse).
7. Full-size digital versions should also be emailed to mmcphotos@btinternet.com (please include your name and photo details in the email). All entries for the Scottish category will be considered for the Moray Mountaineering Club’s 2016 calendar.
After the AGM and photography competition there will also be a talk from club member David ‘Heavy’ Whalley titled “A HEAVY AFFAIR WITH THE MOUNTAINS: BIG WALKS, MUNROS, SEA STACKS, EXPEDITIONS, ENVIRONMENT & ST. KILDA”.
Heavy was a member of the RAF Mountain Rescue for 36 years involved in >1000 incidents. Heavy was awarded the BEM, MBE and the Distinguished Service Award for Service to Mountain Rescue. Heavy has completed the Munros seven times, including three rounds of the Munro Tops.
