Margaret and Evelyn on Beinn Resipol traverse
Thirteen members and guests made the long journey to the Ariundle Centre at Strontian. A very nice bunkhouse, which was only slightly let down by the rather small kitchen. The weather was quite good (for the west coast), but there was a bit of low cloud around on Saturday. As usual, I’ve lost track of what everyone did, so this is probably just small selection.
Alan Duncan and Fiona Duncan got the weekend off to an early start with an ascent of Beinn Laruinn in Glen Roy on the Friday. Dan Moysey and Jake Lee also arrived early and cycled over the “small” hill to Polloch.
Evelyn Droege, Margaret Hattersley and Illona Morice did a traverse of Beinn Resipol. Graeme Gunn, Margaret Paterson and Ella Grant walked along Loch Shiel from Polloch – a good “plan B” that avoided the low cloud. A large group comprising Ben Skillen, Clair Wirsig, Alan Duncan and Bob MacDonald went up Sgurr Dhomhnuill and returned via paths through the woods and old lead mines. Fiona Duncan started off with the group, but had to retire early with a sore back.
Dan and Jake cycled to Ardnamurchan Point just to check the shipping forecast…
Seventy miles isn’t too far
Certainly not if you go by car
But its a long and painful thing
To do in one go the Ardnamurchan Ring
Quite a few folk spent Sunday admiring the scenery around the famous Sana Bay (apart from Fiona and Alan who did a hill near Loch Lomond!). Some climbing was also done on the superbly grippy crags of the Ardnamurchan Ring.
