This is a classic traverse, arguably one of the most spectacular anywhere in the Highlands. It was last undertaken by the Club in April 2008 in the opposite direction.

There are a number of alternatives: One starts at the layby just north of the Ling Hut on the A896 main Torridon road, carries on into Coire Grannda and over the bealach into Coire Lair. From here, there is the choice of following the Sgorr Fuadh and Fuar Tholl ridge, or the Beinn Liath Mhor ridge, ending at the layby opposite the private road via Achnasheallach train station.

Another starting point is the small layby on the A896 at NH002581, to Coire Grannda via Loch Clair and Coulin Lodge.

A different traverse altogether can be started at the Countryside Centre on the A896 at NH 905557, finishing at Coulags on the A890, having taken in Maol Chean Dearg along the route if desired.

Whatever you decide to do, an excellent day is guaranteed!

Contact Dave Whitelock by email to book a place on the bus, by the evening Thurs 19th at the latest.
