Dan and Joe – after much indecision, we found ourselves at Derry Lodge taking the right fork. The first summit (Beinn Bhreac) was soon reached. We made full use of the shelter provided by the cairn, whilst others were forced to face the wind. A pleasant walk across some bog took us to Beinn a Chaorainn. Then on to Fords of Avon where there was a nice new howff. The slopes of Cairngorm were a slog, but a nice photo opportunity with Ptarmigan made up for it. A good day 🙂
Tish, Natacha, John, Alistair, Bob, FionaC, FionaD, Corinne, Jake, Rob – set out with intentions to walk low level along the Lairig Ghru (apart from Alistair!!) due to high wind forecast. Persuaded by Tish to head up to Carn a Mhaim and then Ben Macdui. Very strong winds on top (as predicted) and Jake and Corinne had their glasses blown off! However, we lived to walk another day and had a nice sociable drink in the Cairngorm Hotel. I think we should have had a longer pub stop as we were all back early!!

Bill, Graham, Garry, Jennifer, Ros & Amy – with no indecision, we set out to walk the Lairig Ghru. Bill (on Speed) and Graham (on Ritalin) set a good pace. Stopped at Corrour Bothy for lunch. wind had dropped by the time we did the boulders of Chalamain Gap. A grand day out!
Greg – first time on the bus in over a year but it was an epic! Lions, tigers, Masi bushmen and 3 munros Beinn Bhreac, Beinn a Chaorainn and the very windy (the most windy I’ve ever been on!) Derry Cairngorm. So windy, had to sit down on the top for fear of going the same way as Jakes’ glasses. The long trek out to the car park and a very tasty pint and crisps in the pub. Magic!!
Shane and Graeme – rock climb Crystal Ridge in Corrie Sputan Dearg and over Ben Macdui. Windy! First mountain route for Shane who also led the 2nd pitch.
