If you wanted to experience the “Joys of Hill Walking” this was the day to do it! Virtually clear skies, warm and windless conditions (and pre-midge) …. just about sums it up! 23 people came out on this trip, and we picked up a couple of itinerant trekkers for the journey home! There are a great range of hills on the Garve/Ullapool road and the use of the Bus allows for traverses or you can just pick off a few Munros at a time. Of the first group to get off at Lochdrum dam, Rob Murray went North to do Ben Dearg (minus fishing gear!). Bill, Kevin, Alastair, Jenny, Andy…
Congratulations

March 2015 Weekend Meet Report: Inverie, Knoydart
The MET office had issued weather warnings for wind and rain. SEPA had issued flood warnings for the Western Highlands. The MWIS weather forecast used the word “atrocious”. This was going to be an interesting weekend. Ferries would be cancelled, people would fail to appear and only an idiot would attempt the walk through the Rough Bounds of Knoydart to Inverie. Joe stumbled out of his car, somewhere near the shore of Loch Quoich. He squinted around in the daylight to see a general greyness and, surprisingly, no snow. He could swear there had been snow by the sides of the road on the drive up the glen the night…

March 2015 Bus Meet Report: Drumochter
After many recent Bus meets with horrible weather conditions, this turned out to be one of those days when you just had to be out on the hills! Despite weather reports indicating low cloud and poor visibility, it became obvious as we travelled down the A9, that the weather reports were completely wrong! We were joined on this meet by 3 members of the Inverness Back Country Ski Club, and these hills on the western side of the Drumochter Pass provide excellent terrain for ski touring, with a starting point of 450m! There were 25 people on the Bus and Andy L also joined the group after a few days…
February 2015 Weekend Meet Report: Corran
February’s meet was based at Corran Bunkhouse. Right in the middle of the mountains, ridges and cliffs of Lochaber and Glen Coe and on the doorstep of Ardgour. With a lifetime’s worth of walking and climbing within easy reach of the bunkhouse a group of Moray Mountaineers did the obvious thing. They went to Mull. Andy L, David W, Donnie and Malcolm take up the story: “The plan was hatched over a couple of drinks on the Friday evening ‘Let’s go to Mull and climb Ben More taking a circular route up the A’Chioch ridge, over the top and down by the Tourist Route’. It meant catching the first Corran…
