One of our journals is missing

The Moray Mountaineering Club was formed in 1931 and we are privileged to possess a fascinating selection of records from that point through to the present.  However, over the years some items have gone missing.  In particular, we know that until recently there were three large journals documenting many of the club’s adventures, from the first outing through to a bus meet in Glenfeshie on 19 February 2006.  Unfortunately, the middle journal covering the period 1970s to the 1990s is missing.  Please, please, please have a look under your desks, in your attics and at the back of your darkest cupboard.  If you find the journal, or any other archive…

Weekend Meet November 2012: Inchnadamph

Date: 3rd/4th November 2012 Venue: Inchnadamph Lodge Location: Inchnadamph Lodge is located in the heart of Assynt – a spectacular parish of mountains, lochs & beaches. The hamlet of Inchnadamph is just 25 miles north of the fishing village of Ullapool, 12 miles east of Lochinver and at the head of Loch Assynt. Club Achievements

Did you know that the Club has an Achievements page on the Club Website? This is an attempt to create a historical record of mountaineering exploits undertaken by Club members – past and present. Have you recently completed a round of Munros, Munro Tops, Furths, Corbetts, Grahams, New Donalds or ascended >600 Marilyns? Have you recently been abroad climbing any high peaks? If so, please send details to John Henderson such that they can be recorded and added to the Achievements page. If you already have a round completion recorded, and would like a summit photograph added, please send one relevant summit completion photo to Andy Lawson.

Weekend Meet October 2012: Lochinver

Date: 6th/7th October 2012 Venue: Lochinver Mission Location: Lochinver Facilities:  The bunkhouse contains 14 bunks, sleeping up to 15 people in three separate rooms. There are self-catering facilities and a café on the ground floor. Laundry service and towels are available at extra cost. Cost: £18.00 per person per night, which includes Continental breakfast. An extra £2 gets you a Cooked breakfast. August 2012 Bus Meet Report: Achnashellach

Twenty four members and guests boarded the bus en-route to Achnashellach and Coulags. First off the bus was Brent, who disembarked at Loch Gowan to undertake a traverse of the ridge of hills to the South of the A890, including Carn Gorm, Moruisg (Munro) and Sgurr nan Ceannaichean (Corbett) before dropping down to Craig. Next off the bus, getting dropped-off circa 1km before reaching Craig, were Graham and Bill. Graham and Bill ascended Beinn Tharsuinn (Corbett) before returning to Craig. A party of six disembarked at Craig to ascend Sgurr Choinnich (Munro) and Sgurr a’Chaorachain (Munro). July 2012: Weekend Meet Report: Achnashellach

A small and select group of three assembled at Gerry’s Hostel, Fiona Cunningham, Simon and Susan Jacyna, plus Macdhui the lab, who stayed hidden in the car. It was twenty years since your humble scribe last crossed the threshold there, only to find that nothing, absolutely nothing, had changed. Rather unusually for a MMC weekend, firm plans for Sunday were quickly made. These involved leaving in time to find a large TV so the ladies could watch a Scotsman being defeated by a Swiss man at some form of outdoor ping-pong.
