The wet and mild conditions making for interesting choices of activity; though in Glencoe, choices are never limited. We had sole use of the wonderfully atmospheric hut, though that didn’t deter a number of our party deciding to litter the glen with a variety of rusting hulks masquerading as utility mobile accommodations. (Tinkers). A strangely subdued Friday night meant that the…
March 2012 Weekend Meet: Corpach
Evelyne Droege Andy Lawson Joe Glennie Fiona Duncan Alan Duncan Graeme Morrison Dan Moysey Bob Macdonald Brent Craig Dave Maclean Dave ‘one night’ Galloway Ray Harron Dave Whitelock Graeme Henderson Imke Henderson Jake Lee At least some of the above made the soggy trip to Corpach last March, but after a recent purge of all unnecessary paperwork, which seems to have included my passport and a near priceless collection of 1980’s Woolworth receipts, I seem to have little record of events. I fear dear reader, you may have noticed a pattern emerging in recent weekend reports – or sad lack of them, but I find events are often the better…
August 2012 Weekend Meet: Strawberry Cottage, Glen Affric
Strawberry Cottage Date: 4th/5th August 2012 Venue: Strawberry Cottage, Glen Affric Location: At Western end of Loch Affric, on the North-side opposite Athnamulloch. OS Map 25, Grid Ref: 132207. Glen Affric is a very special and beautiful place. A natural nature reserve and a site of special scientific interest. Long days are the best, the hills deserve to be savoured and many of the fantastic…
June 2012 Bus Meet Report: Glen Nevis
Hello playmates, this month seems to have flown by – must be because the hols are fast approaching. Twenty-six of us boarded the bus bound for Glen Nevis. I counted them all out and I counted them all back (that’s progress on our last visit to Glen Nevis then ). Rob Murray jumped ship at Drumnadrochit, having barely had time to warm the seat of his pants. With his trusty fishing rod in tack he set forth past Divach Falls, passing Loch Dubh and onto the unpronounceable Meall Fuar-mhonaidh. (Well, unpronounceable for a mere mortal like me.) From the top, Rob cast his net down to Loch nam Breac Dearga…

June 2012 Weekend Meet Report: Cairndow
The usual author is suffering from writer’s block, so it has fallen to me to expand on the unintelligible scribbles that pass for write-ups of the weekend’s adventures. There was a spectacular turnout of about twenty at the lovely village of Cairndow on the shores of Loch Fyne, including a significant contingent of climbers; a most discerning breed when it comes to weather forecasts. On the Friday, Andy Lawson, Rachel Higgins and Claire Proctor set off nice and early from Elgin to ascend Rachel’s 100th Munro – Ben Vorlich. Jim Bryce also started his weekend early with an ascent of Beinn an Lochain. Celebrating Rachel’s 100th Munro with a G&T…

With London 2012 just round the corner, twenty-eight would be Olympians took the team coach to Kintail. From this point our duo proceeded South-West towards Drochaid an Tuill Easaich and then dropped down to Bealach Choire a’ Chait. There followed a traverse onto the nose of A’ Chralaig and, in due course, back to the Cluanie Inn. Bob MacDonald & Sheena Forsyth took…
