Are you on Facebook? Did you know that the Moray Mountaineering Club is too? The Club has two Facebook entries. A Facebook Page which anyone (members and non-members) can view and “Like” . A Facebook Group which is exclusively for current Club members. Club Members can join the Facebook Group by clicking on the Facebook Group link and requesting to “Join” the group. 39 Club Members have already joined the group to share photos, discuss meets (climbing, bus & weekends), share information about events, etc.

Club Library

The club has a small library covering all aspects of hill walking, mountaineering and climbing in Scotland and further afield.  Items may be borrowed by members free of charge. A list of Club Library books is now online.

April 2012 Bus Meet Report: Torridon

25 intrepid adventurers boarded the bus, bound for the ever-popular Torridon hills. A huge swarm of people got off at the car park nearest the eastern flank of Liathach and proceeded along the low-level path between Liathach and Beinn Eighe. The large group soon dispersed and split-up: One group, consisting of Graeme Jones, Bob MacDonald, Sheena Forsyth, Jenny Smith, June Simpson, Kenneth Bews, Richard White and Graeme Gillespie left the path first and headed with some speed up the steep Eastern flank of Liathach in order to do the entire ridge. Date: 2nd/3rd June 2012 Location: Cairndow Village Hall, Cairndow, Argyll Facilities: Showers, toilets, fully equipped kitchen. Bring mats and sleeping bags. Pub 100 m down the road Cost: TBC, but very reasonable. Nearby Hills: Nearest Munros: Beinn Bhuidhe, Beinn Ime, Beinn Narnain. Nearest Corbetts: Stob Coire Creagach, Beinn an Lochain, Beinn Luibhean, The Brack, Ben Donich, The Cobbler. Nearest Grahams: Stob an Eas, Cruach nam Mult, Stob na Boine Druim-fhinn, Beinn Lochain. Climbing:  The Cobbler is the great attraction for rock climbers, with 40 trad routes ranging from Sev-E8, ten of which merit a 3-star rating. 2013 Calendar

Glen Moray Distillery has kindly offered to sponsor the 2013 MMC calendar. Please submit photos to Daniel Moysey by 20 April 2012. Other instructions: Submissions to be made on a CD. Deadline for submissions is 20 April 2012. Photos to have a Scottish theme – any subject matter. Please make it clear who took the photos, where they were taken and in which month. Up to six photos per person Photos should preferably be from the last twelve months, but there is some flexibility on this.
