Following the shore on the north side of the loch, Dave Whitelock, Tish Richford, Kath Taylor, Bob Litster, Frances Brittain and James Chitty headed up the steep heathery slope of Mullarch na Maoile. They then headed north up the snowy ridge of Carn nan Gabhor at 992. A strong buffeting wind now greeted them as they made their way northwest to Bealach na Cloiche Duibhe 796. Sat 5th – Sun 6th March, 2011 12 residents, two dogs and a tinker turned up at Rucksacks Bunkhouse for the usual shenanigins. Dave Whitelock scaled new heights of MMC musical talent by playing vaguely in tune and entertained us royally. Sunday, 20th February 2011 The Crowning Glory of Scotland, Torridon, attracted forty-five members and guests of Moray Mountaineering Club, yes forty-five. Sat 5th – Sun 6th February 2011 Roy Bridge is a new venue for the club (in recent years anyway) and it certainly proved popular with fifteen attendees despite a somewhat varied weather forecast. Alan Duncan, Fiona Duncan and Dave McLean tried to go up Leana Mhor twice. Well they would have if the bridge over the River Roy between the East and West Leana Mhors had not been washed away. Ceilidh 2011!
Friday, 25th February 2011, Elgin Town Hall Supper Room, 8.00pm – midnight. £10 including stovies! The traditional ceilidh event is back on the MMC social events calendar for members and their guests. This year’s band is The Broch Inspectors (good name!) and with stovies included in the almost give away ticket price of £10, this is an evening not to be missed.
