June 2007 Bus Meet Report: Cairngorms Traverse

Despite a dreadful weather forecast, 24 members turned up for the classic Cairngorm traverse from Linn of Dee. All attending parties agreed that conditions were actually better than expected: the lack of rain was a bonus and the mist, clag and cloud failed to spoil the general good mood. John Henderson, Andy Taylor, Graeme Morrison, Jan Petersen and Peter Miller first headed off for Corrour bothy. From there, Pete made his way through the Lairig Ghru in “spooky, Sherlock Holmes” type mist. Graeme and Jan went up the Devil’s Point whilst Andy and John progressed towards Cairn Toul. June 2007 Weekend Meet Report: English Lake District

If there is one thing you don’t get in the Lake District it’s peace, quiet, and solitude, however short walk ins, crowds and pubs are normal in the more popular places. By 10 O’Clock on Friday night Drummond Beattie and Dave Galloway joined Evelyne Doerge, Alan Duncan, Peter Goodwin, Bob Macdonald and Neil & Val Kemp in the pub in Threlkeld to celebrate the clubs first weekend meet over the border. Just 310 miles south and a six hour drive from Elgin to the Burns Farm campsite with a bonus of both good weather and real ale. May 2007 Bus Meet Report: Glen Nevis

First off the bus, Graeme Morrison traversed the Grey Corries from Spean Bridge. He reached the first top wearing shorts and T shirt but found his summer spirit tamed by most inclement snow showers! Very quickly, he was back to wearing everything he had available and made good progress along the ridge. He even bagged the last top Sgorr Choinich Beag before heading for the low level path.
