22 Jan – Night Navigation Dufftown and Cabrach

There will be a night navigation training event on Sat 22 Jan.  Start at 1pm and finish around 8pm. There will be some theory (and tea and cake) at my house in Dufftown.  This will be followed by some group practice on the Cabrach Moor as it gets dark (and darker).  Bonus is a great night sky out there usually. No previous experience necessary.  No cost.  On the day you will need normal hill gear and map case and compass.  We will supply the map. If you have any questions or wish to attend please let me know by email ajeffs23@yahoo.co.uk Thanks Alistair

Invercroft Meet Report, November 2021

Beinn na Feusaige and the Maraunder Fri: Arrived at the Invercroft Hut and did the usual opening up.  Plenty of fuels were brought for the fire.  Alistair, Heavy, Maggie and guest Mark went to do Beinn na Feusaige (Graham).  Some navigation practice by Maggie and we finally found the right top.  We went off to look for the Marauder crash site.  Took some time as the grid reference Heavy had was for the hut and the height reference was wrong.  But after searching all flanks we eventually found it and took some photos and said a little prayer for the unfortunate brave who died to give us today’s freedoms.  A…

Weekend Meet Report, Gairloch, November 2021

The weekend started with David jumping in dog poo at 6am on the A9 on the Friday. It could only get better from there surely? Despite the numerous emails attempting to entice people with him, David faced the north Mullardoch Munros alone. A soggy boggy walk along the loch was followed by a windy walk along the ridge. He was rewarded with a view from the final top for his penultimate munro. Evelyn and Debbie went out on the Friday too, with a wander up to Coire Mhic Fearchair. The waterfall was dramatic and the autumn colours were stunning. Despite the torturous winds promised by Mountain Weather forecast, the merry…
