The first Bus meet of 2023 will be on the 16th April 2023. It was agreed at the AGM to re-introduce Bus meets into the club calendar. A commitment to have at least 4 meets plus a Christmas Bus Meet has been taken on by the committee members who will all take a turn. The initial plan of routes is on the website and you will see that we are trying to ensure that more traverses are possible and where we can a climbing location is available for those who like that sort of thing.

Sunday April 16th 2023 – nominally this will be to Luiblea at by Loch Laggan on the A86. I say nominally because that is the intended destination at this point in time. However, at this time of the year the weather is very fickle so if on the 10th April the weather forecast in that region is looking dire and somewhere else is better, I will let you all know and rearrange a change in destination with the Bus company.

So for this first bus meet of the year I invite you to be adventurous and sign up and commit to a sociable adventure with fellow club members. Don’t worry about the weather, bring your maps and plan a route on the bus, try something different, walk with someone new, do something different, enjoy the day!

I would also ask that you commit to the meet and do not pull out at the last moment, it is important that we fill the buses as they cost your club the same no matter how many are on it.

If we change destination I will put full details on the website with possible routes and places to go. In the meantime there are some suggestions for possible adventures below. Please remember though that it is your responsibility to ensure you are kitted out with the correct clothing and gear, that you have the requisite skills to get from your start point to the end point in time to meet the bus. If you are not sure about what to take or where to go and\or are new to the club just ask.

With a bus meet you can get off the bus and back on at the arranged time at any point along the agreed route.

You could walk some of the East Highland way e.g.

  • Aviemore to Kincraig (16.5km)
  • Kincraig to Newtonmore (24.5km)
  • Newtonmore to Laggan (15.5Km)
  • Laggan to Moy Lodge (25Km)

You could drop off at the Creag Meagaidh Reserve and do

  • do Creag Meagaidh and\or Carn Liath
  • Coire Adair Loop (16km)

Or you could take the bus all the way to the end point and

  • do one or more of the Munro’s in the Ardverikie Forest to the south of Loch Laggan – Beinn a Chlachair, Geal Charn and Craig Pitridh
  • Or how about Binnein Shuas and or Binnein Shios either returning to Luiblea or walking through to Kinloch Laggan

Or you could make something up like getting off at Kinloch Laggan, walking to Lock Pattack and back or to Loch a Bhealaich Lamhain and Luiblea. Just as long as you tell us your route and get back in time for your pick up.
