Despite a global pandemic and a lockdown where we couldn’t leave county boundaries, several MMC members still made the most of the year and completed various rounds of the Scottish hills. Congratulations to Sheena Forsyth, Alistair Jeffs, Gavin Scott, and David Treagus for completing (their first round of) the Munros! Winter 2015-16 Indoor Climbing Sessions
The indoor climbing season is upon us. We will be dividing our attention between: Speyside Climbing Centre, Aberlour SpireRoxx, Elgin (Discount available for Club members) Gordonstoun School (Club members only) Inverness Leisure Centre There will be a rotation between venues, but the default is SpireRoxx on Wednesday evenings from about 6pm. The latest information is posted on the Club’s Facebook Page and further dates will be added here in due course. SpireRoxx and Inverness Leisure Centre are commercial venues and are therefore open to Club members and non-members alike. Climbing: Roadside Ice A-Go-Go
With classic winter routes in the Northern Corries buried under powder snow, roadside ice crags have been getting all the action in this last spell of exceptionally cold weather. Oui Oui (III/IV), an icefall just off the road in Creag Dubh has been getting a lot of traffic – not least from MMC members. Heavy Whalley, Martin Collins and Phil Whitfield all report climbing it in the last week. With the thaw now setting in, it might be some time before it forms again. Indoor climbing: Kinloss wall dates 09-10
Once again we have secured access for the Club to use the indoor climbing wall at RAF Kinloss for the winter season. As the facility is in use by another group on Wednesdays, we will be using the wall on Thursdays. Our first session will be on Thursday, 29th October 2009, 6.30-9.30 pm. As we will need to be swiped in by someone from the RAF, could all members intending to come along make sure they are in front of the Gym (On south site, follow signs for Kinloss swimming pool) by 6.30 sharp.
