Bus Meet: 10th September Torridon

Bus Meet: 10th September Torridon Our next bus meet location will be Torridon. This is a classic venue with excellent ridge traverses available from the bus.  Please note that we cannot guarantee that the bus will be able to travel beyond Torridon Village.  This means that anyone intending on climbing Beinn Alligin or doing the low level walk behind Liathach will have an extra road walk between Inveralligin and Torridon Village.  In the past the bus has parked at Inveralligin but this is unlikely to be possible with the huge increase in traffic in this area  Also note the date – 10th September.  Bus Meets are usually on the third Sunday in the month but…

Bus Meets Update!

An update on upcoming bus meets! It was agreed at the AGM to re-introduce Bus meets into the club calendar and Brent has kindly offered to take over planning these for the next while! We are planning meets for every month April to October and welcome suggestions etc. We try to be as flexible as possible with drop offs and pickups but remember our schedule is dependent upon the bus drivers permissible hours and the roads we can travel. New Members Meet, Sunday 8th May 2022 – Update with walks

More details on the planned walk for the day: Some of the club’s experienced members will lead a walk into the hills behind Kingussie. In good weather Càrn an Fhreiceadain is a relatively easy ascent over moorland following a good stony track almost to the top. To gain the summit and return down the far side is a walk of 18 kilometers, rising nearly 700m and will take around 5 hours if you are reasonably fit. At the top in good weather there are some fabulous views over the wild Monadhliath mountains, across to the Cairngorms and Strathspey. The Scottish hills in May can be lovely and warm but it…

The committee is planning a special day to introduce potential new members to the club on Sunday 8th May.  It will essentially be a bus meet to Kingussie and Newtonmore but a bit more involved, with planned activities that new folk can join in with, such as climbing at Kingussie Crag, hillwalking in the Monadhliath and low level walks, culminating in drinks and nibbles at a local pub.  The idea is to introduce people to the club – to club members and activities.  It would be great to have plenty of friendly club members there, including volunteers to be a part of each activity on the day.  Please save the date and help to spread…
