August 2012 Bus Meet Report: Achnashellach
Twenty four members and guests boarded the bus en-route to Achnashellach and Coulags. First off the bus was Brent, who disembarked at Loch Gowan to undertake a traverse of the ridge of hills to the South of the A890, including Carn Gorm, Moruisg (Munro) and Sgurr nan Ceannaichean (Corbett) before dropping down to Craig. Next off the bus, getting dropped-off circa 1km before reaching Craig, were Graham and Bill. Graham and Bill ascended Beinn Tharsuinn (Corbett) before returning to Craig. A party of six disembarked at Craig to ascend Sgurr Choinnich (Munro) and Sgurr a’Chaorachain (Munro). Hello playmates, this month seems to have flown by – must be because the hols are fast approaching. Twenty-six of us boarded the bus bound for Glen Nevis. I counted them all out and I counted them all back (that’s progress on our last visit to Glen Nevis then ). Rob Murray jumped ship at Drumnadrochit, having barely had time to warm the seat of his pants. With London 2012 just round the corner, twenty-eight would be Olympians took the team coach to Kintail. First off the coach at Lundie, Rob Murray & Fiona Cunninghame were hoping for a good qualifying time back to the Cluanie Inn. Striking up over An Cruachan and onto Carn Ghluasaid they then tracked North-West over spot height 998 and ultimately up onto Sgurr nan Conbhairean. April 2012 Bus Meet Report: Torridon
25 intrepid adventurers boarded the bus, bound for the ever-popular Torridon hills. A huge swarm of people got off at the car park nearest the eastern flank of Liathach and proceeded along the low-level path between Liathach and Beinn Eighe. The large group soon dispersed and split-up: One group, consisting of Graeme Jones, Bob MacDonald, Sheena Forsyth, Jenny Smith, June Simpson, Kenneth Bews, Richard White and Graeme Gillespie left the path first and headed with some speed up the steep Eastern flank of Liathach in order to do the entire ridge.
