16 December 2007

loch-morlich-early-morning.jpgWe couldn’t have hoped for better conditions for the Christmas meet, which were in stark contrast to the poor weather we’d encountered for most of 2007. The sky was blue and cloudless, the air dry and crisp and the views over the Cairngorms unending.

Thirty-nine club members and guests jumped on the bus to complete the traverse from Glenmore to Nethybridge. They were joined later by another six members who made their way independently to the hotel.

Some had a leisurely low level walk past An Lochan Uaine and enjoyed a pre-Christmas treat at Ryvoan Bothy. Others went over the ridge of Meall a’ Bhuachaille from Badaguish or the Reindeer Centre before heading down for Abernethy Forest.

All parties met by 5.00pm at the Nethybridge hotel for an enjoyable Christmas meal. This was followed by the annual presidential speech and the presentation of Tankards to three Munroists: Tish and Mark Richford and Janet Trythall.
Ray Harron, Dave McLean and George Herraghty were also given Quaichs for finishing their Corbetts.

Special thanks go to Graeme Morrison, Spence & Grant Ltd, for sponsoring the cost of all the Quaichs and Tankards this year.

Merry Christmas to all and Best Wishes for 2008.
