As previously announced in the Newsletter, we are launching a new photography competition and prize in memory of Alister Sword, a longstanding member and former President of the MMC, who passed away in 2007.

Entries are now being posted on the MMC Flickr page as they come in and voting will take place online between 11 February – 10 March 2009. Details of how to vote will follow. Meantime, the deadline for entries is 10 February, so send your photos in to this email address now!

 

The Rules

Entering
1.    Participation is open to current members of the Moray Mountaineering Club only.

2.    There will be 2 categories:
a.    Scottish
b.    International (ie all non-Scottish)

3.    Entries may be on any aspect of a mountaineering theme: Landscapes, people, macros, wildlife, etc.

4.    Entries must have been taken in the 2008 calendar year.

5.    Members are invited to submit a maximum of 2 photographs for each category, although they may choose to enter only one photograph, or only enter one of the categories.

6.    The deadline for entries is 10 February 2009.

7.    Entries should be submitted as attachments to an email sent here, with Photo Competition clearly stated in the subject header.

8.     Please also indicate where the picture was taken and when. You may give your photos a title if you wish.

Judging
1.    Judging will be by members’ votes only.

2.    Voting will take place online (ie on the internet) between 11 February – 10 March 2009. How to vote will be explained in a separate email and website posting.

3.    Each category will have a winner and a runner-up.

4.    The winner of each category will receive a trophy, while the runners-up will receive certificates.

5.    The winners will be announced and receive their prizes at the AGM on 12th March.
