The July Bus meet will again be changed to a car meet, due to an historically low turnout of members at this time of year. The venue on Sunday 17 July will be Glen Strathfarrar, which for those who have not been to this area before, is the Glen west of Struy on the A831 (buses are not allowed access to this Glen). You can get to Struy either via Beauly to the north or Drumnadrochit/Cannich to the south. 1/2km west of Struy Bridge is a locked gate at Inchmore and car owners give their details to the gatekeeper at the cottage before being allowed to proceed up the Glen (access by foot and bicycle is unrestricted). In July, the gate is open between 9am and 8pm. At other times of the year details of access can be found at: www.mcofs.org.uk/strathfarrar-access.asp
There are 4 Munros to the north of the Glen, and it is possible to drive to the little power station in Gleann Innis at Lochiel for access to the 4 Mullardoch Munros – on the south side. 2 Corbetts and 2 Grahams are also in range in this area, and there are some climbing crags on the way to Loch Monar. Jenny Smith will coordinate numbers for this meet, with the usual departure times of 7am from Elgin, 7.20am at Forres, 7.45am at Nairn and 8am at Inverness. Details of members who have booked will be circulated so that cars can be shared where possible. Contact details for Jenny are: jennylsmith@live.co.uk or 07970 608640
