Illona

Eleven members joined the MMC party at the lovely bunkhouse at Strontian in Ardgour.  Well actually the partying was somewhat curtailed by the many adventures inspired by the good weather.  Allan Duncan, Jake oh-my-back (and knees) Lee and Fiona Duncan went up to Drum Tarsuinn via the lovely Resourie bothy.  John Henderson had a four day weekend crammed full of adventures to some less visited Grahams (err…that means a long walk-in through bog, heather, rocks…etc).  Graeme Morrison and Penny TWD joined him for Saturday’s outing.  Dan Moysey and Illona Morrice went up Garbh Bheinn via the excellent Pinnacle Ridge – this is the route for anyone fond of “exciting” scrambling.  Ray Harron and Natacha Mihajlovic walked from the bunkhouse up through some beautiful oak woods to Sgurr Dhomhnuill and Beinn na h-Uamha.  Approaching the first summit they were rewarded by an up-close view of a Golden Eagle taking off from a rock just in front of them.

Ella Grant and Drummond Beattie set off at the crack of 9:30 for the arduous ascent of Beinn Resipol, which they completed despite a bull blocking their path.

The weather on Sunday continued to be good and so there were lots more adventures; most of which will remain known only to those participating.  Ella, Drummond and Illona went kayaking around Kentra Bay and had a great view of not one, but two, Sea Eagles sitting on cliffs.  Daniel cycled from Strontian to Glenn Finnan via Loch Shiel and then on to Lochailort and finally back out to the west coast where he was collected by the kayaking party.  All four enjoyed coffee and scones in the lovely Glenuig Inn.  Natacha and Ray went up the Corbetts Fuar Bheinn and Fuar Creach after the initial torture of going up some unavoidable Graham the name of which has been forgotten.
