Traversing Trallaval

Date: 3rd, 4th and 5th May 2014 (3 night stay)
Venue: Kinloch Castle Hostel, Isle of Rum

Location: Kinloch, Isle of Rum

Facilities: Kinloch Hostel provides purpose built accommodation adjacent to Kinloch Castle. Each dorm room comfortably sleeps 4 people (2 single beds and one bunk in each) and we can accommodate up to 32 people in total. All bedding provided, 2 well-equipped self catering kitchen/diners, lounge, free wifi, plenty of hot showers (bring your own towels), central heating, laundry (£2.50) and drying room (free) available in the Castle Courtyard.
Sorry – no pets (except registered assistance dogs).

Your luggage can be collected from the Pier (look out for the quad bike & trailer). The walk to the hostel takes about 20 minutes, or you can take the golf buggy shuttle service (charges apply).

Cost: £19.50 pppn

There is also limitless camping very close to the hostel for £6 per person.

Nearby Hills: Corbetts: Askival and Ainshval, Graham: Trollaval, Sub2000 Marilyns: Mullach Mor, Orval, HuMPs: Bloodstone Hill, Barkeval, Hallival, Sgaorishal and Ard Nev.
The traverse of the Rum Cuillin from Barkeval to Sgurr nan Gillean is a must.

Other things to do: Dibidil bothy, Guirdil bothy, Mausoleum, Kilmory beach …

Getting there: Calmac ferry.
On Friday, depart at 12:40 from Mallaig (arrive Rum at 14:00)
On Monday, depart at 13:00 or 15:05 from Rum (arrive Mallaig at 17.50)
