Justin’s Back Garden! – The Corbett Carn Chuinneag is west of Bonar Bridge and so our weekend meet co-ordinator should know this one like the back of his hand – (right Justin??)

The days are beginning to be shorter, so a slightly shorter walk (with car-sharing) makes sense at this time of year, but takes nothing away from this less-frequented hill. The area has some savage history of the clearances so perhaps the group can share a ‘self-educational learning experience’ over lunch (& elevenses & afternoon tea!!)

The plan is to ascend this pleasant hill as a group. You are of course welcome to do your own thing if you prefer. The walk itself is about 18.5km and there is 769m mostly on paths; this should take 6-7 hrs including a stop for lunch.

The plan is to meet at Ardgay at 08:15 and then proceed to Glencalvie lodge. We should be on the hill by approximately 9am and returning to the cars about 4pm. Please remember to bring your head torches as even a small delay may result in completing the walk in the darkness.

You should wear and carry clothing and equipment suitable for the Scottish hills in late autumn. I would also suggest that you carry a packed lunch or other sustenance to keep your energy levels up.
