Loch Quoich - Will we see snow?

A good meet for Munro-baggers, with loads of options, all involving the ascent of Munros. Alternatively, there are also a number of low-level options, making for an easier day. The most obvious hills are Gleouraich, Spidean Mialach and Sgurr a Mhaoraich to the north of Loch Quoich.  The former two form a fine ridge with a short and easy approach, easily climbed by a stalker’s path some 4km west of the dam. There is also a stalkers path leading from Alltbeithe up the north west ridge of Gleouraich, which could be used in descent. The latter is best approached by its south-east ridge of Sgurr Coire nan Eirichealach. From all of these, a route could be taken to a part of the South Cluanie Ridge. Sgurr a Mhaoraich also opens up the opportunity of Sgurr na Sgine and the Saddle with the Forcan Ridge.

The low level options both involve a trip to Alltbeithe and circumnavigating the South Cluanie Ridge, either by its eastern end leading to the obvious attractions of the Cluanie Inn, or the western end which will take you back to the bus. It will be parked for the day at the layby for the Forcan Ridge.

Contact Illona Morrice by email for this meet only to book a place on the bus, by the evening of Thurs 14th at the latest please, as we need to confirm the bus with Maynes on Friday morning.
