With Jake away at the Albanian ferret pickling championships we all feared that the weekend meet would deteriorate into unorganised chaos.  Fortunately, his ruthless organisation and forward planning prevailed and it was once again a success.  Well, apart from the weather – but then why else do we all spend so much money on waterproof clothing?

Katie Griffiths, Karl Markham, Fiona Cunningham and Ash were first out of the door.  They headed for the “path” (which Ash considers to be “a mechanism or structure designed to easy/facilitate access and perambulation”) leading to the Munros An Caisteal and Beinn a Chroin.  Apparently the definition is somewhat at odds with the boggy mess encountered.

John Henderson had an action packed three days, which included another four Grahams.  Graeme Morrison joined in on the Saturday when they drove up Beinn Bhair Gargan and Meall nan Gabhar, which by general consensus was considered cheating that should be reported to the authorities!  .

Ray Harron and Natacha Mihajlovic added the Corbets Creag Mac Ranaich and meall t-seallaidh to their list and Simon Jacyna also ascended the latter.  Jim Bryce was also one of the weekend’s Graham baggers; he had an enjoyable day on Meall nan Caorach and Meall Reamhar.

Dan Moysey and Chirs Harding started their day with a fruitless foray into Carinlarich city centre in search of a pub showing the rugby.  Needless to say Plan B prevailed….get up Ben More and Stob Binnein by the short but steep route.  There was some snow at the top and also news that not watching the rugby had been a blessing in disguise.

Dave MacLean went up Creag Gharbh.  Shortly after starting he bumped into Magnus from Sweden.  Magnus was keen to explain his new diet…meat, meat and more meat.  He (Magnus that is) says he has never felt better and lost loads of weight and only has two bowl movements a week…but his guts bubble a lot!

Last out of the hut were Fiona Duncan, Alan Duncan and a half-awake Jenny Smith.  They went up Stob a Chion and like most folk were back early, even after the pub stop.

As always there were many more adventures and stories, they have been lost in the mists of Crianlarich.
