June 2008 Bus Meet Report: Glen Nevis
15 June 2008 Despite a very favourable weather forecast and the chance of a trip to the Adventure Capital of the UK, there was a very poor turnout of only 18 people (which included 7 guests) for this bus meet. On the day, the weather was warm and dry, with scarcely a breath of wind, although there were occasional very light snow flurries at the top. Early cloud on the Ben lifted to provide one of only 36 days in the year when the summit is clear. No one brought their mountain bike to have a go on the fearsome downhill course at Aonach Mor, but one group opted for…
July 2008 (Non-) Bus Meet*: Suilven
Sunday, 20th July 2008 O.S.Map(s): 15 Est. time of arrival: 10.00 am Time of departure: 18.00 pm Leave Elgin: 7.00 am Is it a Munro? Is it a Corbett? No, it’s Suilven! With the holiday season in full swing, attendance for the July bus meet has been poor in recent years, so to avoid making a big loss, this year’s meet is being organised as a self-drive event. All those…

June 2008 Weekend Meet Report: Cairndow
7-8 June 2008 The village hall in the idyllic setting of Cairndow on the shore of Loch Fyne hosted fourteen members for the June weekend meet. A few of the party took opportunity of the fine forecast for some hill action on the Friday: Andy Williams and Dave Galloway used the visitor centre at Inveruglas on Lochlomond as the starting point for Ben Vorlich, disturbing millions of crane flies in the process. Graeme Morrison and John Henderson used it as their liaison point before proceeding to Beinn Bheula. They started on what they thought was the wrong path and adjusted their route up the boggy side of a river before…
