12 members attended this meet. Unfortunately Debbie had to pull out after an injury on the 30th December on her way there.
Tuesday 30th December
This was a cold and icy, but bright and sunny day. Sheena and Dan climbed Stob a Choin and Beinn Stacach as a circular route from Rob Roy’s House. The final stretch in the dark involved half frozen, knee deep bog and reeds so another contender for the MMC shi**iest walks “guide book”.
Evelyn and Debbie climbed Creag Dhu, a Graham near Roybridge, on the way in. After a beautiful acsent, Debbie slipped on ice on the way down disclocating her shoulder. She was able to complete the walk slowly with help from Evelyn who then took her to the Belford Hospital where she was treated.
Grace and Callum climbed the Corbett, Ben Donich, and had beautiful views all round.
Evelyn reached the hut feeling very tired around 10 pm.
Wednesday 31st December
Alan, Fiona, Annika, Grace and Callum climbed Buachaille Etive Beag (Stob Coire Raineach summit) from the A82 car park. The path was very icy and there was intermittent wind and rain form the bealach, but reasonable views of both summits and they were back before the continuous rain set in.
Rob did a walk exploring the West Highland Way to the north. Evelyn did a low level walk from the hut. Bob and Fiona did a walk from Loch Leven.
The evening was spent enjoying a splendid spread of home cooked food, playing “Articulate” and seeing in the New Year with bubbly and Auld Lang Syne.
Thursday 1st January
A much windier day, so after a slower start Dan, Sheena, Annika, Rob, Alan, Fiona (D), Bob, Fiona (C), Evelyn and Grace walked south along the West Highland Way to the Glencoe Ski Centre where they met up with Justin and Callum for lunch and walked back in the afternoon.
The group enjoyed another spread of home made food with wine and played various games including Bananagrams, Uno, Dobble and more Articulate.
Thursday 2nd January
With snow forecast, most of the group headed home.
Sheena and Dan headed west over to Loch Creran for an ascent of the Corbett Creach Bheinn. The easiest route was up a handy track for 4km followed by a cross country section over grass, heather and rocks for another 3km. A short steep grassy/icy bit required the use of crampons for the return route views were pretty good.
