March 2015 Bus Meet Report: Drumochter

After many recent Bus meets with horrible weather conditions, this turned out to be one of those days when you just had to be out on the hills!  Despite weather reports indicating low cloud and poor visibility, it became obvious as we travelled down the A9, that the weather reports were completely wrong! We were joined on this meet by 3 members of the Inverness Back Country Ski Club, and these hills on the western side of the Drumochter Pass provide excellent terrain for ski touring, with a starting point of 450m!  There were 25 people on the Bus and Andy L also joined the group after a few days…

February 2015 Weekend Meet Report: Corran

February’s meet was based at Corran Bunkhouse. Right in the middle of the mountains, ridges and cliffs of Lochaber and Glen Coe and on the doorstep of Ardgour. Andy L, David W, Donnie and Malcolm take up the story: “The plan was hatched over a couple of drinks on the Friday evening ‘Let’s go to Mull and climb Ben More taking a circular route up the A’Chioch ridge, over the top and down by the Tourist Route’. It meant catching the first Corran…

January 2015 Weekend Meet: Inverey

In the absence of our usual weekend meet raconteur, it falls on me to report back on the eating, drinking and general foolery that is the New Year meet and, of course, tell the tales of high adventure in the mountains. Muir Cottage, Inverey Let me kick off with the ‘eating’ bit. Our thanks to Graeme and Shona who arrived with a full roast beef Hogmanay dinner for all, complete with Yorkshire puds and roast tatties – pretty swiftly polished off by the fourteen members in attendance.
