No showers, bring you own sleeping bag and thermarest It’s been some time since the Club has visited the Ben Lawers area, but this is hillwalkers’ paradise: Ben Lawers (1210 m), Bein Ghlas and the Tarmachan Ridge are on the doorstep, and there are numerous Munros within a 20 mile radius. The hills of Glen Dochart, Glen Lochay and Glen Lyon are all within striking distance. Dare we hope for snow? November 2007 Weekend Meet Report: Kinlochbervie
3-4 November, 2007 The numerous deer grazing by the side of the road as we journeyed north to Kinlochbervie caused grave foreboding; the forecasted “High” hadn’t arrived yet. Come Saturday it was still absent, so with routes modified from the previous night’s bar influence, a late start was accepted. Saturday Conditions where perfect though for Bob Macdonald and Graeme Gunn, off sea-kayaking in the bay of Oldshoremore. Struggling to get out through the high waves without capsizing, they caught some awesome surf once they found the courage to turn the kayaks around. October 2007 Bus Meet Report: Kintail
21st October 2007 The October bus meet saw a favourable turnout of 26 people for what remains one of the club’s favourite venues. Kintail indeed offers many possibilities with its big ridges and variety of hills. Visibility was good all day and the dry weather conditions allowed all members and guests to achieve their goals without any problems or delays. Graham Milton and Flora Hunt went up corbett Beinn Loinne at the back of the Cluanie Inn. They had a nice and easy start without rain, however the path further up became steep and slippery. October 2007 Weekend Meet Report: Oban
5-6 October 2007 Friday night on the 5th of October saw the start of a “Navigation extravaganza” not indulged in for some time by the Club. Locating the Jeremy Inglis Hostel is a challenge in daylight, at night it calls for a “park and walk search” to find the small sign above the door on the narrow frontage of the building. Saturday morning didn’t deliver the forecasted downpour, just a dreek day with the cloud base at 400m. Evelyne Droege and Amanda Strang took nine hours to bag Ben Sgulaird. This required close navigation to find the summit, giving Evelyne a well deserved confidence boost and her 150th Munro. Bob…
